IMPROVING RESPONSE TIME IN THE RADIOLOGY DEPARTMENT

The Objective

The radiology department at Aalborg University Hospital asked for assistance on two main issues: improving workflow in order to reduce the amount of time from examination to test results – including the time from patient referral to the production of a description – and strengthening the collaborative work culture and work processes of the department.

Story

Through the application of qualitative and user-focussed research and development methods, existing work flows and working relationships and roles in the department’s daily operations was examined in order to develop and improve response times and working relationships in the department.
The project involved a wide variety of staff members, across professions, organisational divisions, geographical location, ethnicity and seniority.

Result

New workflows, new organizational setup and not least a more holistic understanding of roles, responsibilities and the production capabilities.regions and hospitals.
